黄八切れ, Ki-hache-giri, means "Many Cuts of Yellow", a rather unusual name to give this laceleaf maple, considering it is never described as yellow. Perhaps the author was thinking about sunlight shining through the dissected cuts. (ED)
This very pretty Dissectum Group is 9-lobed, with Spring-yellow leaves very orbicular and indented to the petiole. A seedling of Ki-hachijō. Autumn color has been described as yellow, or by Yano as red and orange. (ED)
