鬼簾, Oni-sudare, means "Ogre's Blind" literally. It implies a thick, coarse bamboo screen; and so it is in fact: 鬼簾 is a rough-form bamboo sushi mat, made specifically for omelette rolls to leave a textured outside. It implies that this was a rough-barked cultivar, in it's time. (ED)
