Tharandt is an Acer platanoides of German origin, discovered at the University of Dresden. The glossy, almost round leaves are somewhat similar to Nasturtium, many held horizontally, making a very unusual texture. Some leaves have small, almost unnoticable lobes. It will grow to a large tree to around 50' as wide as tall. Fall foliage is orange and yellow. (DSN, ED)
