昇竜の爪, Shōryū-no-tsume, means "Rising Dragon's Claw", and entirely fitting epithet for the elegant, deeply-cut, thin lobes of this maple, often slightly convex, and held in a raised position. An ascending dragon is an iconic and positive symbol, representing ambition and success. (ED)

Shoryû-no-tsume is a lovely, deeply and narrowly lobed Acer sieboldium. The foliage is a deep green with noticeable pubescence on bright red twigs. Mature height is unknown, but probably less than 12'. Fall color is an excellent red. (Claw of the Dragon) (DSN, as Shoryu no tsume)
