孔雀錦, Kujaku-nishiki, means "Peacock Brocade." This lovely variegate from Saitama Prefecture is said to be covered with white hairs when leafing out in spring. The variegation is inconstant, though beautiful when the white blotches and leaves appear, but in Autumn it makes a true variegated brocade, the thin leaves intermingling oranges, yellows, reds, and even very dark purples.
