唐織, Kara-ori, means Chinese Weaving, but is actually a highly prized form of elaborate Japanese weaving, creating a thick and sometimes glossy brocaded (hence the nishiki synonym) fabric used in Noh Theatre comstumes. It is considered a significant textile art form. Note thet MOW has the synonym reversed, according to Nakajima. (ED)

Kara ori is a small growing bushy upright in the Marginatum Group. It is from the Edo era, present on a list from 1732. Variegation is orange fading to cream and mostly restricted to the leaf margins. Fall color is yellow and crimson. (DSN, as Kara ori nishiki)
