Kasagiyama (Don Schmidt/Mr Maple), 笠置山, means "Kasagi Mountain." Kasagi is a town in Kyoto Prefecture, which was a center for Shugendō (Mountain Asceticism). It has a long and rich history, and is now a popular spot for Sakura, Cherry Blossom viewwing. (ED)

Kasagi yama is similar to Beni shigitatsu sawa in the spring with its coleus patterned leaves. The new growth of Kasagi yama is a bright brick red not the pink of Beni shigitatsu sawa. The plant grows into an open shrub that can reach 12' in height. (Kasagi Mountain) (DSN, as Kasagiyama)
