(Kinpai, DVDM) 錦盃 is romanized as Kin-pai. It means literally "Variegated Sakazuki." Another valid reading of 盃 is hai/pai, "sake cup" although we are more familiar with "sakazuki" for this character, "pai" is a valid on'yomi (Chinese pronunciation) reading. (ED)
Kin-pai was selected as a sport from Osakazuki, by Tsukasa Maples outside of Tokyo. It is mostly variegated around the amoenum leaf edges. Fall color is meant to be similar to Osakazuki, a flame red. (ED)
