ICNCP Name: 'Koi'

Formerly 'Koi'

The International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) establishes the rules and regulations for proper naming of plants. When different, the cultivar database displays the correct(ed) ICNCP name, rather than its previous cultivar name.

Japanese Maple Classification:
Palmatum Group

Hardiness Zone (for guidance only):

Note this is not the same maple as 'Kō-i', which in Japan is in the Dissectum Group. Therefore we keep this name separate, although it may be a degeneration. (ED)

Koi is a dwarf green maple, with short inter-nodes and long-lobed leaves that some compare to Mikawa-yatsubusa. It leafs out bronze before turning green in Summer. Fall color is a lovely orange tinged with reds. (ED)
