The International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) establishes the rules and regulations for proper naming of plants. When different, the cultivar database displays the correct(ed) ICNCP name, rather than its previous cultivar name.

Very frequently seen as Ryusen. 流星, Ryūsei, is a single word noun defined in Kenkyusha 4th ed. as "Shooting Star" or "Meteor." To separate the parts is therefore a simple grammatical error. (ED)

Ryû sei is a cascading, green Japanese maple. The growth rate is rapid, so Ryû sei is beautiful in a pot, as a ground cover, or as a top grafted specimen. The fall foliage is a strong orange-red. (Falling stars) (DSN, as Ryu sen)
