Shigi-tatsu sawa(Hilliers Manual 2014), 鴫立沢 or Shigi-tatsu-sawa means Snipes Flying up from a Marsh (ED)

Shigitatsu sawa is a member of the Reticulatum Group of Japanese maples. It has coleus-like spring growth, but the venation is white-over-green rather than pink. It will grow to be a stocky, wide tree eventually reaching 12'. (DSN) The meaning is "snipes rising up from the marsh" (鴫立沢), for which reason each word is hyphenated individually. (ED)
