占の内, according to Yano, though Nakajima gives simply the Hiragana for shime: しめ. Archaically 占 may be read as shime instead of the usual ura/sen. In this sense, it means "demarcating a place", while 内 means "inside." Along with the possessive particle no, this gives us "Inside a Marked Space", probably referring to a sacred area. (ED)

Shime-no-uchi is a green linearlobum maple with orange overtones on the mature leaves. It has bright yellow-orange fall color with a heavy red seed set. It layers out to make an outstanding specimen. Mature plants are slightly taller than they are wide to approximately 15'. (Green within New Years Day) (DSN, as Ao shime no uchi)
