ICNCP Name: 'Usu-beni-shidare'
Formerly 'Usu beni shidare'
The International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) establishes the rules and regulations for proper naming of plants. When different, the cultivar database displays the correct(ed) ICNCP name, rather than its previous cultivar name.
Japanese Maple Classification:
Hardiness Zone (for guidance only):
5 to 9
Although the source of this maple does not provide the Japanese name, we may assume from his history that this is a Japanese import. Usu-beni-shidare is the compliant name, with the spelling almost certainly 薄紅枝垂, meaning "Pale Red Weeper", or in reference to the cultivar from which it takes its name "Pale Beni-shidare." (ED)
