友禅紅葉, Yūzen-momiji makes reference to the Yūzen dyeing technique, invented by Miyazaki Yūzen in the 17th century. It was a technique that allowed production of colorful fabric and kimono that mimicked the more expensive freehand dyeing techniques. The fans made with this technique were also immensely popular. This unvariegated, but elegant maple, has no relation to 'Uzen-nishiki'.
