大和蔦, Yamato-zuta, means "Japan Ivy", possibly referring to the leaves as in Tsuta-no-ha (Leaves like Ivy). There is no known cultivar named Tsuta, 蔦, "Ivy." The usual rendaku or consonant voicing changes tsuta to zuta when spoken. Yamato (大和) is the classical name for Japan, connecting to the central Yamato Province and meaning "Great Harmony." This symbology is connected to the earlier mythological name for Japan, Akitsushima (秋津島), which means "Dragonfly Island." (ED)
