Although Nakajima writes Yama tori, spelling it 山とり, there is no Mount Tori. Further やまとり, Yamatori is a very common Japanese surname, and would have also been so in 1882. Gregory concluded this was a proper name, and I agree. Therefore the compliant spelling is Yamatori. (ED)
