金剛錦, Kongō-nishiki, means "Kongō Brocade." Although there are several Kongō place-names in Japan, this seems most likely to reference 金剛山, Kongō-san, the highest mountain at 1,125 m in the Osaka Prefecture. It is known the beauty of its waterfalls and hiking trails, as well as shrines and ruins. Note it should not be confused with the Acer palmatum with the same epithet. 金剛, lit. means Strong Metal (Gold). In Japanese Buddhism, Kongō has the meaning of "vajra", indestructability, resilience and protection. (ED)
