鹿子木楓黄斑入, Karakogi-kaede-ki-fuiri means "Acer tataricum with Yellow Variegation." Karakogi-kaede is the accepted common name of tataricum, with a meaning of "Fawn's Maple", Japanese sites will sometime translate it as "Dapple Deer Maple", but fawn is more accurate and also dappled. The 木, ki, becomes gi through the standard rendaku consonant voicing change, and 黄斑入, ki-fuiri directly means "yellow variegation." Gregory reversed the synonomy from Yano in the Checklist 1st ed., giving Yū-zuki-nishiki 夕月錦, as a synonym. This should be changed to Yano's interpretation. (ED)
