Peter Gregory Award
In 2013, our then-President Matt Nichols created the Peter Gregory award to recognize a member in good standing who exemplifies our mission statement as determined by a unanimous vote of the Board.
About Peter Gregory
Few people in this world have passed on so much amazing knowledge about maple trees.

In addition to co-founding the Maple Society, serving as its Chairman and Editor of its journal, Peter was the superintendent of the Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire, England, where he was involved in tree research, including maples, for more than five decades.
Peter's wonderful prose in his maple profiles, his co-authorship of the "World Checklist of Maple Cultivars," and his revisions to J.D. Vertrees’ classic book "Japanese Maples" have helped enormously to make these fantastic trees better known and better understood.

Considered one of the greatest maple experts in the world, as well as one of the most beloved, his memory will live on in all maple lovers around the world.
