The International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) establishes the rules and regulations for proper naming of plants. When different, the cultivar database displays the correct(ed) ICNCP name, rather than its previous cultivar name.

砂子澤, Sunago-sawa, means "Sparkling Sandy Wetlands." The expected rendaku, sawa becoming zawa is not used because it wasn't used in the 1882 epithet. Note that the spelling of sawa, 澤, is the pre-reform character (Kyūjitai) for wetlands/marsh, which was replaced by 沢 (Shinjitai system). Note also that the Checklist 1st ed. incorrectly spelled "sunago" as "sunaga." ED)
