面河錦, Omogo-nishiki, means "Omogo Brocade", surely referring to the Omogo river as is winds through the gorges and valleys of central Tokushima Island, in Ehime Prefecture. The clear waters and stony runs, alternating with fishing pools and the occasional Shrine, make this a major tourist area for fishing, eating, and admiring the autumn colors of the hillsides. The speckled variegation of the cultivar evoke the shadow-dappled river. (ED)
